Gathering
Each Sunday, we gather online and livestream worship on Facebook Live at 10am on Sundays. To find us on Facebook, click here. Please know that you matter to us, you are always welcome to come join us in-person or online!
Worship is the most radical thing we do. There is no “to-do” list. No multitasking, and nothing is required …except to show up. And when we show up, we find diverse and beautiful music, readings from scripture and contemporary texts, people to support and challenge us, sunlight, candlelight, and silence.
God is there, too. God is everywhere, all the time – but often in the sacredness of a Sunday morning we finally have a moment to notice.
So, we invite you, and please come as you are! The way you present yourself to the world reflects your own identity and is wholeheartedly welcome here.
When you arrive for in-person Sunday worship, a friendly greeter will be at the door to welcome you, offer you a name tag and help you find your way around. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you are joining online, our Tech Coordinator is there to answer any questions via Facebook Comments or via Messenger during the Livestream.
Children & Youth at MUCC
Children of all ages are always welcome here! The presence of children is a gift and their presence offers hope for all. We believe that the way we welcome youth in worship directly affects the way they respond to God, the church, and to one another. All noises of life are welcome noises! You will find age-specific baskets in the back of the church with games and activities for all ages. You are welcome to walk in and out of the Sanctuary with your child as needed. We are glad you are with us!
During the Service
During worship, everyone is invited to participate fully; worship comes with no requirements about age, beliefs, membership, or baptism. We use inclusive language in scripture, liturgy, poetry, music and hymns, as we experience God as both Mother and Father, and also acknowledge the equality of all people. During the Sunday service, you will hear our Choir sing an anthem along with some joyous piano or organ music and oftentimes hear from skilled guest musicians. You’ll also hear readings from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament along with other contemporary sources of sacred scripture. And our Minister will lead prayers and meditations and deliver a sermon that speaks to the issues of life today and the call to live out and into love and welcome.
We usually celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month. At this time during the service, share grape juice and gluten-free bread. We do this to remember the meal shared between Christ and His disciples. If you’ve ever been told or made to feel that there’s some obstacle to your receiving Communion or in any way participating in a life of faith, we’re here to say: those voices were wrong. You will find a welcome here. This is God’s table, at which all people are welcome. Our online worshipers are encouraged to have something to eat and drink and we bless the elements together!
Our Sunday service lasts about an hour. After the service, we hold Coffee Hour in the Parlor for a time of fellowship for all with baked treats, coffee, tea and crackers.
