In these days of noise and conflict and division and sorrow… it is good to take a moment to breathe. It is good to take more minutes gathered in community, to sing, to sigh, to pray and sit in silence with our God and with each other. Our worship service on February 15th is designed to flow like the prayerful services at the Taizé community in France.
We will listen to Scripture for ancient words that speak to us today. We will sit in sacred silence together. We will pray together. We will sing chants designed to take us deeper into communion with the Spirit. Beautiful, easily-remembered, harmonious chanting is a style of meditative prayer. Singing a two-line chant over and over provides us with a mantra, a point of focus, so our minds can take a break from spinning. Blending our voices together, bringing harmony into the words of devotion, we join our hearts and minds in worship. Quieting our minds, we make room for the Still-Speaking God who lives within and around us.
Come. Sit. Breathe. And chant in our sacred space together. Amen.
Blessings,
