Underwear shoppers, take note: It’s almost time for our annual gathering of women’s underpants, bras and socks; please put February 23 on your calendar and plan to attend this annual event, now a celebration potluck for the entire congregation while we count and sort the donations.
We all recognize having dry socks and comfortable underclothes are privileges we take for granted, and so we gather NEW items with tags still on for the women of Mary’s Place and Interbay Tiny Cabins Village. After sorting the items, Lindsay Butler and Diane Wheeler will deliver them to the appropriate locations. Please leave the tags on the items because it makes it easier for volunteers and staff to distribute the items by size.
All sizes are welcome, although larger sizes in bras and underpants seem to be more demand (perhaps because they are more expensive?) Direct your shopping to styles women would wear while job-hunting, working, or caring for their families.
This gathering of both items and people will be Sunday, February 23, at an all-church potluck immediately after the service in Pilgrim Hall. If you are unable to attend the potluck, but want to shop and donate, please contact the office for hours when it is open to receive drop-offs at contact@magnoliaucc.org, or bring them to the Sunday services prior to the date.
We can help you with your shopping if you like. And, lastly, if you prefer simply to write a check, please write it to MUCC and put “Mary’s Place” in the notes section; in early March, a check will be cut by our accountant and mailed to Mary’s Place.
This project has been a part of our church community for about 16 years. It originated with a “what if?” chat between Lindsay and Evelyn Crichton, who hosted the potluck in her home for many years.
