Details

Date:
September 17
Time:
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Plan to attend an in-person Creative Reset workshop at the church on the evening of Thursday, September 17th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Led by Jodi Wade, during the workshop participants will engage in a series of fun, hands-on creative activities using materials like magazines, paper, pens, scissors, and glue (all provided). No artistic experience is needed; the goal is simply to play, explore, and experience the benefits of creativity in a supportive environment.

Why is creative play good for us? Creative activity reduces stress. Even 20 minutes of creative activity lowers stress and improves mood. The act of making something calms the nervous system. It boosts energy and well-being. Doing something creative increases positive emotions like energy, curiosity, and engagement. People often feel better after making something, even if it’s simple. It improves how we think.

Creative exercises are used in design thinking and innovation because they help people see new possibilities and generate ideas. Even looking closely at images can improve observation skills and problem solving because it trains the brain to notice details and patterns we might otherwise miss.

Adults don’t play enough.  As children we spend a lot of time playing, experimenting, and making things. As adults, most of that disappears. But play and experimentation are important for learning, curiosity, and well-being.

Class size is limited, send an email to contact@magnoliaucc.org to inquire about registration.
